Dragonfly

dragonfly

Another busy and HOT day at work. We ran the sprinklers most of the day to keep alive the new perennials we planted during summer's classes. It's amazing that when the first bit of water puddles in the beds, the frogs begin to sing, birds and butterflies arrive, and dragonflies also make a showing.

I sketched this from a photo reference since it was another late evening before I had a chance to sketch, and it took me THREE attempts before I could even muster a sketch I thought came close. Sometimes fatigue really does interfer with one's fun!

Oh, Lin! Just look at the tiny intricate detail on the wings. The shadow and the way you contoured & modelled each body segment What a super job.

applause on your perseverance, I think people who don't draw think we always get it right on the first go, so not true! this turned out great!

Chalk up another one! Wonderful. When I first saw it coming on I was wondering how you sketched so fast! Our dragonflys never stay put long enough to sketch!

This is stunning, Lin. I do feel for you, working outside in this heat. Take care of yourself.

Lin, this is a great drawing. Dragonflies are considered good luck. You might think of putting this on a greeting card or something.

Lin this is fanatabulous. I am waiting for summer, although I dont want the watering at least there will be more to sketch.
I need longer days and althugh that is happening I am now worrying that we are about to head for another drought, no rain for over a week and this is winter here. I even watered the pots today.

I enjoyed your words as much as the drawing. They created such a lovely scene with sound and visuals and the feeling of a hot day. Mr. Dragonfly is quite the creature and beautifully drawn.

Lin, you sure succeeded in capturing the dragonfly! I've been trying to take their photo, as we currently have brilliant orange, and metallic blue ones in our garden. Alas, they don't stay still for very long! Your sketch got the dragonfly to stay still and take a bow!

Wonderfully done, Lin.

This is a wonderful dragonfly Lin!! You did such a great job with it - I can't believe you were exhausted when you drew it!! You are an inspiration for what is possible. I am positively lazy by comparison - if I even yawn - that's a good procrastination excuse! ;o)
