Camellia

As I got home the other night, the weather forecasts for the weekend were that temperatures would fall into the 'hard frost' category -- the coldest nights since March! Yet, in the corner of my 'hidden garden' my pink camellia was blooming to beat the band.

After I unpacked, I went back outdoors and clipped a few branches to bring indoors to sketch. Good thing I did -- the ones in the vase dropped all their petals the following morning, and the blooms on the shrub were 'heads down' from the cold and dropping petals even faster!

Glad I was able to sketch this while I could!

Wonderful! You've captured their colour and softness beautifully! Our flowers got frozen in mid bud and mid flower last week, winter came so suddenly. Funny to think it was the same almost half the world away!

Lovely post! Just to let you know your drawing did not end up on the super blog. You may need to adjust your feed setting on your blog. We too got a really hard frost and the leaves just fell en mass on the lawn! Enjoy the beauty of your flower!!

Oh Lin, this is absolutely gorgeous; the flowers so delicate and the leaves so detailed. Lovely contrast and so beautifully rendered. Practice really does pay off -- you are to be admired for your dedication to your art.
Hugs,
Lorraine

Beautiful, Lin. What color pen did you use on the flowers?

Beautiful ,Lin! B-u-r-r-r-r I like fall but am not quite ready for winter, although, our actual winter has at least another 3 weeks before it arrives and probably longer than that.
