A Bit of Blue in the Green, EDM 116

A bit of blue in the green
Originally uploaded by linfrye.
Yesterday was Earth Day, and we celebrated by planting the blueberry bushes we brought home from the sale, flowers, herbs and vegetables ... I even managed to get some 'round-up' on those weeds taking over the raspberry beds and gravel paths.

Down the street from our home is a small field that caught my eye with its masses of 'bluets' (Houstonia caerulea (Hedyotis caerulea) -- see (http://www.ct-botanical-society.org/galleries/houstoniacaer.html). They so reminded me of all the bluebell paintings at EDM and especially Julie's (http://onemilefromhome.blogspot.com/) that I wanted to capture the small patches of them.

I'm still working on my landscape sketches (and the trees I love!!)... and need a ton more practice ... but they're FUN!

Lovely, Lin - you've done a great job on those trees.

Hi Lin, I don't even dare to plant anything until after Memorial Day here. Lucky you! These bluets are interesting. The other day my dauthger and I were walking along in the neighborhood and found abouat 20 bees buzzing around in them. Bees are introuble now so this was heartening to see. Lovey landscape. I like the lost and found edges.

What a beautiful spring scene. I really like the colors and how they blend so well together; the trees are just the right amount of detail and looseness!

Very nice painting again Lin...I love the spattering you did on the patches of blue and your trees are very graceful...this is just an uplifting spring scene.

Lin, I really like your landscape paintings. The trees are excellent and so is the ground cover. Are bluets like bluebells? We've got loads of bluebells just coming out here - carpets of them in the woods.

Lin I am catchng up on a few of my favorite blogs and love what you have been doing, fresh and gentle. Your flowers always make me feel better, a sort of lightening in the day, not sure what I am trying to say but love them.

Reminds me of bluebells too. Lovely colours and nice rendering of the tree.
