EDM - 136 - A Living Thing - Olive Tomatoes

EDM - 136 - A Living Thing - Olive Tomatoes
I'm back at work with a truly intense schedule, deadlines, and late nights which will be the situation for the next four weeks.

I've also been focused on finished 'sketch/paintings' so I thought I'd give my ink and wash sketches a bit of attention.

This is my olive tomato plant -- surviving and PRODUCING through drought, a month of temps over 95+F, inconsistent watering, 1/4" of rain in 2 months .... so for the EDM challenge of 'A Living Thing' -- I thought what better living plant hero to sketch than this indominable tomato plant!

With the drought conditions that continue to plague our region over the last few years, this strong survivor will be planted again next year. (Seeds from Johnny Seeds (http://www.johnnyseeds.com/) - Variety - Sweet Olive #2887). And no, I was not paid for this endorsement! LOL I"m just a mighty pleased , if tired, grower!

Very neat sketch. I've never heard of Olive tomatoes -- just cherry and grape. I might have known that YOU would know about OLIVE tomatoes!
Hugs,
Lorraine

I'm a big fan of tomatos and I'v never heard of olive tomatos, either. I'll have to check them out. I really like this sketch, the colors are lovely.

Olive tomatoes? They are on the list for next year! (Even though I vowed to never try to grow tomatoes again...) Great painting!

This is my new favorite of yours and makes me miss my ink and watercolor drawing that I haven't done in a while as I struggle with oils. I too have been having more hell weeks at work (was there until 8 last night). Congratulations on your anniversary and your beautiful work, despite your crazy schedule. Sorry I haven't been leaving comments much but I so appreciate yours! Hang in there!
