Kalenchoe

Kalenchoe

Yesterday was an exceptional day -- it was one of those where somehow all the planets aligned, the gods were smiling, people were merry, and things just seemed to FLOW! OH HOW I LOVE days like that -- rare things that they are!

My co-workers and I completed morning musts and then --together -- did those chores for the Arboretum and office that we usually divy up among ourselves for more efficient finishing. While we all work well together, it is an extremely RARE event that we all get a chance to actually DO such things TOGETHER -- and it was such FUN! We managed to get everything completed that we needed to -- and at the same time, laugh, share, dream, plan. We returned to work in much higher spirits than we have had through these last weeks of intensity. I simply MUST find a way to work in more of these for all of us -- what a healthy approach to WORK! LOL

I also want to thank you for your kindest suggestions of sketch topics ... I printed out a decent list of ideas -- TRULY THANK YOU!!! And when I got to the B&B in high spirits and ENERGY (YEAH!), lo and behold, there was a pot of FLOWERS that I could sketch -- so THANK YOU, Keith (http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkielover/) for your suggestion ---!

This pot of Kalenchoe was sitting on Rebecca's windowsill near some growlights I had given her two years ago .....and it was a delight to do a loose sketch that seemed to express the joyful gift of a day ....

Beautiful painting for a beautiful day. I guess that's why they don't happen all the time-then we couldn't appreciate them as much.

I like this painting, well done!
Kalanchoe reminds me of my university time, when I had a plant of these in my tiny student's room! They were so forgiving when I watered them every third week or so;-))...

I LOVE days like that! They happen too seldom. This is really a great little painting, too -- that red is awesome!!!

Oh I love Kalenchoes -- I had forgotten about them. I used to buy one each year and they had such marvelous colors - but it's been years since I saw one. Yours is lovely and the pot so nicely shaded. What a nice surprise to go "home" and find it to sketch! Glad you had a fun day at work -- yes, more people need more of those!
Hugs,
Lorraine
