Rebecca's Bearded Iris

Rebecca's Bearded Iris

It was a very busy Easter for us yesterday -- with Easter egg hunts, candy baskets, dinner, clean up ---

But spring is making itself known every day. I spotted a few early wild irises on my property ... and this one, drawn last week but painted yesterday -- is from Rebecca's yard ... the same species as those I'm finding here. I used my iris colorings to paint Rebecca's larger flower ....

Oooh, one of my very favorite flowers in my favorite color. Just beautiful Lin. Thanks so much for this touch of spring!

Ooh - that gorgeous deep purple! This is really lovely, Lin. My garden's just been dug up for a remake, and I'm so going to miss the irises this year...

I can almost SMELL this beauty! Beautiful color and nice soft shapes. One of my very favorites! The "wild" ones, do they grow truely wild or were the not planted, not tended by you in a part of the garden not cultivated? Just curious, never seen or heard of the full bearded iris growing wild. Or am I way off and by "same species" you simply meant that it was a variation of your wild iris.

We don't have irises yet, so it's lovely to see your gorgeous sketch! Cara, I just read about your upcoming trip to the Bahamas with Michelle!! You must be over the moon at the prospect!
I was hoping you and I and Sue could go and paint water and rocks together soon.

Wonderful color in this purple iris!!! You're so luck to have things in bloom already. Look like you had fun with your little guest artists too!

Spring is so wonderful with the lovely bouquets springing forth each in time- Yours is a perfect reminder of the gorgeous purples awaiting just under the ground.

What a beautiful way to dress a garden..the iris...tall, regal, yet very girly! Love it!
