Wisteria and Arch

Wisteria and Arch

Yesterday was nice and quiet compared to the last few days ... so I could work a bit more relaxed (and with a bit more time!) on this one.

I noticed in my travels around our area, that the wisteria is in full bloom, but time did not permit me to stop to sketch or even photograph. So I assembled this sketch from several copyright free images, some observations I made while driving, and a bit of imagination.

BTW, did you know the flowers of wisteria were edible? But NOT the seeds -- those are highly toxic ...

What a beautiful composition. I think it's incredible that you can just take a series of different scenes and ideas and make your own scene. This one looks so inviting. I'd like to be sitting close to or under that tree, just inside the walls, with a book and a glass of iced tea!
Hugs,
Lorraine

Gosh, your wiisteria blooms so much earlier than ours. My neighbor has a beautiful vine and I have painted it several times but not until May. Your painting is lovely and colorful
