Yates Mill, Apex, NC

Okey dokey, K -- I finally got my mill painted this weekend ... There are some boo-boos to be sure -- but each painting experience teaches me yet again how to 'see' better!

This painting is from a photo I took several weeks ago at the plein air event I attended. I felt the scene was far too complex for me to try plein air, so I snapped some photos to use at home where I could take more time at my art table.

We'll still working on the house, but the frenzy of the clean-up is lessened and though there are still some major repairs we've got to make, we're now working on framing paintings and adding final touches. It's an astonishing experience to see my own work on my walls ... mercy ...!

Oh it's just terrific Lin. Again, I love the way you have such beautiful detail in the mill with the soft trees and sky. The mill is so realistic -- so detailed -- so well done with the shading and colors -- just perfect! I can't see ANY mistakes. Don't compare it with the photo. Just gorgeous.
Hugs,
Lorraine

Lin - You did a wonderful job on the detail of this mill!!! Perfectly shaded. I can understand why you didn't want to do it in plein air. LOVELY!!!

Great job. Lots of detail, yet soft and lets the eyes move around.
