Evening Snow - Thank YOU Denis!

1/8 Sheet
Arches 140#CP

The hush of snow, that fabulous blue light in the quiet of an evening's snowfall, the cold, crisp air -- I can't help but think of that song of the 1970s "There's a Kind of Hush, All Over the World" ..... I LOVE that light snow brings to such a night ....

This painting is based on a wonderful photo of Denis Collette (www.flickr.com/photos/deniscollette), whose wonderful photography makes me dream!! THANK YOU DENIS for allowing me to use your work again for inspiration!

Our high temperatures have crashed into the 30sF this morning, and we return to 'winter weather' yet again. Despite working in the greenhouse today, warm temps, and the teasing sunshine, we are still in for wintry weather, and if I have my wish - a bit more snow before spring arrives.

For those of you in the throes of yet another snowfall, please be safe, and send just a bit our way, please ....!

Gorgeous Lin -- perfectly gorgeous. A winter evening in Vermont with a path leading into Robert Frost's woods! I love it. And I'm so glad I'm viewing it here instead of out my window. Beautifully painted!!

We had fierce winds all day yesterday with blowing snow and then sun, repeat, repeat. Brrr -- very cold. But I feel so fortunate compared to many parts of the country. We had just 1,000 people out of power for a few hours here so many of our utility people went to Cincinnati yesterday where they had major outages.

Also thinking of everyone in the storm's path and wishing you warmth and well being.
Hugs,
Lorraine

Oooooooh! I love the feeling the blue gives to this! Beautiful!!!

We lucked out with the ice storm yesterday, or else I was inside for the worst of it. Today we have sunny blue skies and temps that should reach about 32. I'm hoping to actually paint outdoors, not in my car today. Hope there is no wind. That will send me rushing back to the car. lol

Enjoy your day. Stay warm and safe.
