Poppies

On this cold, grey, rainy Saturday, despite the celebration of our much needed rain, I dream of warmer days and the bright red of poppies.

I remember several years ago coming across an entire field of these beauties and taking photo after photo of their dancing forms. I've returned each season since to see if they were replanted --- nothing but fallow fields.

It only goes to show you how important it is to capture each moment as it happens --- there are no guarantees for a repeat ..

Enjoy all the moments of today!

You just keep cranking them out, one more beautiful than the other!
Yes, some warm summer sun would be nice.

Oh I love the effect of this painting Lin. You are so versatile! And it is a welcome brightness to the very cold gray day here too.

I was watching a film on Monet recently and it showed the poppy field near his home. Oh my!

May your weekend be filled with painting.
Big hugs,
Lorraine

This lovely one looks like a partner to the camellia you did. You are right about capturing moments when we see them. Things change so quickly.

Hope the needed rain arrives and that your weekend is great!

So true about capturing the moment. For a class with Jane LaFazio my husband bought me a bouquet of flowers. The first flower I painted from it was a gerbera daisy. I took a photo too. This morning I got up and the daisy was all wilted. Good thing I did it first. I had no idea they lasted only a day.

Love your poppies. We only get a few here but they are so bright amongst the desert drab.
