Summer

I am thoroughly enjoying Virgil Carter's 'Colorful and Loose' Landscape class. This painting, done earlier in somewhat different colors and smaller, comes from lessons taught in the class. The view is of a farm and pond (barely seen in front of the back trees) is one I pass every time I head into town. The morning I captured this view, the light was bright and the heat of the day was just beginning to descend. I used my practice pieces from Virgil's class to inform this work, changing the major shapes a bit and 'heating' up the colors.

I finished two batches of peach jam yesterday, sprayed those pesky weeds, and began the weekend watering. More of same today! LOL

Hope your weekend is terrific!

Beautiful!! Lin, it's truly amazing. You have captured the atmosphere , I feel as though I need sun glasses. Your are truly gifted. Your paintings and post give me the down home country feeling I love so much. Memories of the Waltons one of my favorite shows.

All the best to you,
Joan

Lovely color combination and I can see the haze of summer over it all -- can just feel the sun and humidity as I look at it and imagine the smell of hay and the buzzing of flies and bees. Beautiful!

Good luck with your weed war and the jam making. Whew, you are still the energizer bunny!
Hugs,
Lorraine

Lin, this is truly lovely! I love the way the foreground gently rolls down to the viewer and the way my eye is drawn to the dark woods in the background. What a great style you've developed in this painting - it still has your personality but along with that is the charming wantoness of summer. The light in this is breathtaking!
