Wiinter Helebores

There's something amazingly uplifting about winter flowers. They seem to defy the weather, the grey, gloomy days, the bouts of freeze, the scant sunshine. Whether grown midst the harsh conditions of this season or the protection of greenhouse warmth and watering, flowers at mid-winter seem to warm us in all the ways we need.

Love your painting! I must say, the hellebores in our yard have really suffered this winter. Last year they were in heavy bloom at this time. This year not a bloom so far. The winter jasmine started into bloom right after Christmas, but freezing temps got them, too. Thanks for sharing your picture.

Lovely painting Lin -- so delicate and reminiscent of the colors of winter -- white with a bit of yellow to brighten the day (snow and sun).

I was with a friend a couple weeks ago and we went to Trader Joe's. She's NOT a winter person and immediately pounced on some probably force fed bright yellow crocuses, all the while remarking on how many days until Spring!

Thank you for sharing this gorgeous painting.
Hugs,
