Journal - Cape Fear Sketchers at Latimer House -- I sat outside in the gardens while the sun was shining --- I wish I had left the background house in pencil to fade more into the background. So the best I could do to bring the statue into more focus was to darken the building .. Next time ...!

Barn After Rae Andrews

Worked yesterday from a wonderful tutorial by Rae Andrews (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mgb0Scp_XQ) (using my own photo) and attempting her splashy techniques. I got so focused on trying her techniques that I completely lost the composition. I added her suggestions to try to make adjustments .But despite the flaws in this small work - I learned a lot. Thank you Rae for a marvelous tutorial and help!

Journal - One of the nice sunshine days last week I took several pictures of the New Hanover Gardens ... I sketched this from one of those photos -- but I so hope to return soon to sketch it from life ...The trees were just beginning to bloom, and I"d like to return to these falls when there is more color than green .. lol
