Today, November 17, I have been blogging for one year. I've also been sketching a drawing/painting-a-day for one year .. (and sometimes a few more)! Wow!

I'm posting a few sketches posted a year ago .. and one that I sketched for this blog's birthday ... something a bit more difficult and challenging -- a statue -- from the Ceramics Museum in Castalgirone, Italy-- and it has a FACE! I've included, especially another 'face' I attempted a year ago ...

I'd like to take a moment to thank YOU, my kindest and most generous of friends, whose remarks, encouragement, atta-a-gals, support and suggestions have kept me picking up that pencil and watercolor brush day after day -- even when work fatigued and busied me and sleep beckoned. If I have made any improvement in my sketching and painting, it has been ONLY because you encouraged and supported me; and for that, I humbly thank YOU.

  4. CONGRATULATIONS LIN! A Wonderful achievement! All through this year, knowing that you were also trying to do one sketch a day made me more persistent and dedicated. And while you were tired and still trying to do your daily sketch, you never failed to offer encouragement to ALL of us - sometimes within 5 minutes after I uploaded an EDM challenge! Great progress in your sketches and painting.

  7. Wow; what a gorgeous statue AND face -- you HAVE come a long way, artistic lady. And the details on the toothbrush are fantastic. Great idea to show the current and 2005 drawings -- shows all your dedication and hard work have paid off.

But I have to disagree -- it has not been our comments but your persistence and dedication to your art that have paid off.
You would have done it without us, but of course it's always nice to have feedback and you've deserved all you've gotten.

I admire your tenacity -- wish I had more -- you are definitely an inspiration.

    Congratulations and Happy Blog Birthday!
    Hugs and more hugs,
    Lorraine

  24. Happy blog day to you! You have come a long long way -- and I'll just ditto ALL of the above comments. You are an inspiration -- I don't see how you find time to draw daily with all your other commitments, but you do. I think of you often when I'm dragging me feet about a little daily sketch, and one of these days I'll be able to say that I've done as well as Lin and drawn something EVERY DAY for a year! You are a blessing.
