I did this sketch in my Raffine sketchbook -- and as much as I enjoy that paper -- it wasn't cooperating much for me here. Still ... my attempt for this was to practice my perspective with large views -- the scale of objects and the issues involved in a 'wide' view...
It might not have cooperated but it turned out beautiful!!!

ReplyDeleteLooks to me like you accomplished what you set out to do. Great job with the distance! I know what you mean about the sketch books, and I think Raffine is the best paper I've come across in a multi media sketch book.

This is amazing, even if the paper didn't cooperate. I've been thinking about this kind of perspective too, especially when comparing a recent plein air painting with the photo and seeing how much I distorted the actual perspective in my painting (or was it that the camera distorted it?). If you'd like one more thing to consider with perspective, don't forget aerial perspective -- the effect of the "curtains" of atmosphere between you and the distance that make colors in the distance lighter and cooler and less saturated.
