I couldn't rest until I found out the name of the pink flowering tree -- it's actually a shrub, though it's happy where it is and thus as tall as a 'tree' to me -- it's a fragrant Viburnum .... not sure which one as I couldn't find the Latin name in my garden journal (bad me! LOL) --- but it's wonderful!
Loved reading about your garden etc. Fragrant Viburnam is so pretty. Is this a short lived flower? Your garden it beautiful and the trellis is so nice. What a great story to go with it. I love the vibrant colors you've used in this work. Makes me think spring/summer/ warmth!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a lovely peaceful spot. I think all gardens need at least one seprate/private area.
ReplyDeleteRest, relax and have a scrumpous weekend!
This is truly lovely Lin. How well I remember this special place at your home. But it is even more beautiful in your latest sketch today. Such a nice impressionistic look, so soft and yet so colorful. Makes me feel I could walk right into it. And I loved hearing the story again. Old minds forget!!! We too had 3 days of wonderful "outside" weather and then rain and now the cold is upon us again but it smells so refreshing I can forgive!

I like the arch of the flowers on the trellis. Nice color and arrangement to this. You are such a good flower/plant authority. In answer to your question...I'm in Holbrook which is about 20 minutes east of Amityville.
ReplyDeleteI have this viburnam, too, if I'm not mistaken. It blooms on and off from a warm December or January, clear through (still have some blooms on it). I agree that it's beautiful. Mine is so large right up against the house by the front porch, that I'm thinking of pruning it back severely, but am not sure I have the heart to really do it. Your painting is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Lin. Wikipedia says its family is Adoxaceae. Your painting is lovely.
