Dogwood

Everywhere I look the dogwoods have announced spring, even though the temps this morning are in the low 40s .. brrr. I wanted to create an image of this beautiful tree with all the softness I could muster -- so I tried a mixed media --- watercolor and white India ink for the dogwood bracts ...

Our school is redoing some of its computer filters and I"m hitting a ton of snags ... so I hope to be back to normal by this afternoon ... sigh.

This is so pretty! I love the contrast between the light dogwood flowers and the intense colors on the ground.

The deep colors on the lower plants just make this Dogwood look so light and airy. Beautiful lighting on the trunk too!

This one really shouts "SPRING!" It's terrific -- I especially like the slight curve to the horizontal line of plants. Those white bracts are PERFECT with the white ink!!

Dear Lin! I haven`t visited you for ages. Life has been really, really hectic. So I read, and read, and read and still I am not updated on all your lovely paintings. Have to read... and watch them all over again. They are SO beautiful. And you are so telented! But the motorcycle part? Wow! you are courageous! I am real coward when it comes to fast rides....or at least on a motorcycle. I love fast cars though!

I have decided only to have one blog. It`s a decision made in great agony...but for the best. I don`t have the time needed to keep both of the up to date. So from now on you will find me only on jeanetteshandmadestuff.blogspot.com. To celebrate my decision I have a little contest over at my place. I would be so happy if you would join it!

Lots of love
Jeanette

PS And I will be back really soon.

Beautiful Lin...you really did achieve softness in the dogwood, contrasting beautifully with the playful explosion of colour on the ground.

Lin, You did a great job on this!!! White trees are so difficult to do and this is lovely!!! I was out walking and taking photos of the flowering trees with my sister this morning. I alway avoid painting the white ones cause they're so hard. WELL DONE!
