HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KEITH!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KEITH!
Originally uploaded by linfrye
My dear friend, Keith (http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkielover/) , is enjoying a birthday today - and so, with sunshiney flowers, I sent BUON CUMPLEANOS across the pond!

Tulips are original to Persia and Turkey. According to one authority, tulips were given their name from the Turkish word for gauze (which was the material wrapping their turbins) and reflecting the way tulips look in full bloom.

In the language of flowers, tulips take on various meanings -- most of those concerning love and friendship --- and yellow and orange and red tulips- symbolize fondness and cheerful thoughts -- and so I add these to my birthday wishes for you, Keith -- a most incredible artist, friend, and mentor!

May this be as special a day as YOU are Keith -- HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

BACI BACI!!

Absolutely fantastic! We have beds of tulips about to open on the median right in front of our apartment, and I'm going to try to paint some a la Lin!
