Lace-Cap Hydrangeas

When I returned from SC, my lace-cap hydrangeas were just past blooming. I wanted to capture these as a record for blooming trees and shrubs from my garden.

The scan doesn't show the light blue/pink swirl of color around these ...

  1. I love lacecaps, although maybe not quite as much as mopheads. I have several lacecaps in the yard but they're not blooming at all yet. Your version of yours is very pretty.

  3. These are gorgeous. So delicate. :o) I haven't had much luck with these. I don't think they like the soil hereabouts.

  4. I can't believe any of your hydrangeas are blooming already! They would really be hard to draw, I'd bet -- great job! :-)

  6. Scanners are a pain sometimes. Our hydranges are just beginning to bud, funny that your are so far ahead. I would have liked to see the pink and blue swirls around them.

  9. Oh, Lin, they are lovely. They were my daddy's favorite flower, and he was quite the gardner.

  10. Nice watercolor Lin. I applauded you continuing to paint and post here with all that has been going on! BRAVO!
Interesting that you live hundreds of miles north of me and my lace-cap hydrangeas have just started to bud. Unfortunately my bamboo is sprouting up like wild fire. See it on my blog.
