Oxford Courthouse and City Hall

One of the major landmarks for Oxford is the Courthouse and City Hall. It sits prominently on the main street and is always a bevy of activity.

By the way, that 'lollipop' tree --- SIGH! The city INSISTS on trimming these hollies into lollipops that they string lights on each Christmas. Poor trees -- I think this unnatural shape embarrasses them ... it DOES embarrasses ME!

Lin, Your drawings are great! I like the light and shadow on the tombstone, and the buildings look ilke buildings (mine never do). It's also nice to learn about your Oxford. Thanks for your comments on my drawing - I enjoyed myself, even if I didn't manage to get there!

Great job with the perspective on this courthouse drawing! And I'm laughing about the embarrassed lollipop trees...

Lin you did a great job with the perspective in this piece!! It's really terrific. The sketch alone is superb, and the addition of colour is great too. Well done!!

Ahhh! Very nice! I love it. Your painting is beautiful. I agree with your mind set of the unnatural mutilation of trees. They do it to Fruitless Mulberry out here, I fink it very sad.

You've had a really great stretch of drawings lately, Lin. And I'm envious of your bluebirds!

Wow, Lin! Your drawings lately have really taken off! I love the building that is your City Hall, but I like the tobacco shed even more. You have a strong sense of perspective that I'm still trying to understand the concepts of; I envy you!
Hope your allergies are doing better today.

Lin, glad to see you posted your Courthouse images. Super! Your dedication to your art is really paying off!
I agree with the your objection to unnatural tree pruning. My neighbor is very anal about everything and his poor azealas have to bloom through their square cut! They seem to be boxed in!

A very nice architectural sketch, Lin! I find these the hardest of all. Opps, though, I have lollipop trees in my Frenchish garden. You'll have to cover your eyes when you come for a visit ;D.

That brownish-orange on the courthouse is yummy. I love the earthy color. :)

Hmmm. Lollipop trees! "Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore."
