Selected!

Selected!
Originally uploaded by linfrye
I work for one of 58 community colleges in the North Carolina community college system. Each year the System Office (the hub and central office of these 58 colleges) seeks artwork from students, faculty and staff from all its colleges for display in their five story building and multiple conference rooms. (This building is often visited by legislators, public officials, as well as the general public.) Selections of displayed artwork represents each of the 58 colleges.

While I have no idea if any other artworks were selected from my college, I received notification yesterday that THIS painting -- MINE!!! -- was selected for display!!! I was thrilled to numbness!!!!

I didn't get home after all my meetings yesterday until almost 9:00 PM and I didn't read this notification until well after 10:00 PM .... so it took me a while to get to sleep!

I am so honored, especially for having my work displayed among my co-workers (many of whom haven't a clue that I began learning to paint and only know me as a plant person/grant WRITER!) ....

What an absolute surprise!

Easy to see why - this is absolutely beautiful! Weirdly, I was driving by some trees like this yesterday and thinking how great they would look as a painting. I was right!!

I love all of your paintings and sketches, but this painting is my favorite. I don't know enough about art to tell you WHY I like it so much, but it pushes a lot of my buttons in a good way!

I hope you're able to see your work displayed along with all the others. I'd bet some of those will look like kindergarten refrigerator finger painting by comparison. :^) But I'm a bit biased.
