Calla

Calla
Originally uploaded by linfrye.
Last night I sketched callas for my dear daughter and her husband who leaves today for several months of training before he leaves for Iraq. My heart breaks for this absence, especially because HER daughter is a mere nine months old, and my dd works a demanding, full-time, stress-filled job. She (and he) will be facing multiple challenges in the next year, and so I painted callas (her favorite flower) and said prayers with each pencil line, and more with each stroke of paint.

God-speed, my dear son-in-law .... may angels rest on your family's shoulders......

There's your gorgeous pink again - these are well defined and a little loose at the same time - very nice job.
I've added them to my morning prayer list that I pray over EVERY day.

...wonderful flower-painting and it has magnetism because of all the good thoughts you put in it while making it!

This is a beautiful painting, so sorry it was done on a sad occasion. We all look forward to the one you'll do for his homecoming.

What a nice thing to do, Lin. I like the idea of saying prayers while you work on a gift - such a nice way to think of the recipients of our work. Lovely painting of the Callas.

I will remember your family in my prayers, too.

Oh Lin, how hard for Michelle and little Taylor. And hard for you too because as Mums and Grandmums we tend to absorb all their angst and worry and make it our own. I'm wishing for strength and courage for you all. Big hugs.
P.S. I adore Callas too. You did a wonderful job on these. :o)

These have a peaceful, prayerful quality to them, Lin. I'm sure those qualities will stay with your family and protect them during the next difficult year.

These are beautiful Lin. Sending tons of positive thoughts your way, I'm sorry to hear your family are facing difficult times. I hope he comes back safe very very soon.

The callas are outstanding but I'm so sorry to hear your son in law is headed for Iraq. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone I knew would be affected. I hope your prayers will be heard and he'll return home safely.
