BACK to Work and Sketches for the week
It was mighty difficult after two weeks of vacation to return to the hustle and hassle of work. I did manage to do a few sketches each day to keep my New Year's resolution to sketch more and to sketch more quickly. Sketching these also helped me to keep my sanity! The flowers are particularly intended for my resolution to sketch more nature. We had several days of intense rain so these were sketched from one or two of the avalanche of gardening catalogues we receive each year. The jacket, eyes and chandelier were sketched as inconspicuously as I could during a five hour meeting ... Yes, talk about helping keep one sane!

Oh Lin, they are beautiful. Love those pansies! You are keeping up with your resolution so well.
I'm glad to see that you didn't let wind or weather or anything stand in your way of drawing. Good job.
I can see the development of your style in just these few sketches ... you have a loose, easy comfortable hand with the pen and watercolors (not sure that's what it is -- or some other color medium). I like your notes on the sketches, too. Keep it up and you will vastly improve and surprise yourself. It takes commitment and I can see you have that. good luck :)

Oh my goodness Lin, as much as I like the
flowers I am blown away by the mug and
tea cup shaped little tea bag holder. I
think I got that right. The proportions
and general drawing are incredibly accurate.
Way to go girl!

Lin,
What beautiful sketches! Columbine is one of my favorite flowers and the colorful pansies are lovely. Your New Year's Resolutions is starting off very well indeed.
Thank you for visiting my journal and for your warm comments and for your support!
Lin,
I think it is great that you decided to sketch every day and you are able to pull it off! And, sketching faster...I still struggle with that - your pictures look really great for sketching fast too! Pansies are my favorite, yours look so sweet. I like the tea pot and trivet....don't you hate returning after vacation? Bet, the next sketches you do...will pull you "away" again....and once again you can escape!
These are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I too want to draw and learn more about nature.
Your tangerines and pecans look so inviting! And yes, talk about art keeping you sane ... :-)
Lin, these are such fun! I especially love the mascara one...but they are all spirited and look so spontaneous.
You've been busy! It is fun to see so many and such a variety of sketches! I like the pansies but I think the chandelier one may be my favorite, though I'm not sure I could say why. For one thing, I like the way you did it while at a meeting----soon you'll be out there, drawing in public to beat the band ;D.
hey these are fabulous! I like the liveliness of your lines.
