Hibiscus

This hibiscus was in full bloom in the Arboretum kitchen garden. I sketched it as quickly as I could since the petals became so floppy -- so FAST! Again I am surprised by the abundant amount of PINK!

This is lovely, Lin---strong and colorful, with beautiful transparent petals.

This is my favorite on your site so far. I love the rich dark green background that that contrasts so beautifully with the soft complementary reds and pink. Hibiscus are one of my favorite flowers and I just love what you did with it. I like the way the writing adds texture to the page too.

Lin, how wonderful! I can't believe I could have missed so many wonderful postings! So many times I pop into EDM have a quick look at 5 or so things then it's out the door to work, I haven't popped in here for this entire page of posting and they are all absolutely delightful. I love the softness of your w/c and the words journalled on the bkgrnd..so charming!
I want you to know you inspire me and for the month of July I'll be at your side, recommitting to sketching at least one quick one each day. Not posting each day (or even each drawing) as scanning and posting make me weary, but with you on your journey
I love how drawing is a journey of gratitude and feel that you Lin, are such a blessing to all of the EDM world. Thank-you, Sue

Beautiful Lin! You have captured the joyful tropical essence that are hibiscus. :o) Would you believe mine are still in flower even in this winter chill?! We haven't had any frosts yet though. Love the photos of your grandchildren too. Priceless! :o)
