FINALLY! Home to a quiet two days of grant writing .... but also home before 9:00 PM to my own desk, lamp, and supplies! YEAH! And finally a bit more time to sketch this week's EDM challenge.
When my husband and I visited my daughter and her family, I bought several pots of flowers for her property. One of those was a bright yellow, orange, and pink lantana. She placed it on her steps to await planting, and I snapped a photo of it. I used it as a reference for this picture, but changed the pot from black to brown.

Lovely!!!
Very pretty, Lin. And I think making the pot brown was a good thing to do - really harmonizes the whole painting.
I like how you did the leaves and the bricks in this one. The wash behind the individual leaves is great! very nice.
I love lantana, and these are beautiful!
Your commitment to draw/paint daily with such an intense work/life schedule is so impressive, but clearly worth it! I really love your light, breezy style of drawing and painting. There's such a gentle, sweetness in each painting/drawing.
Lovely flowers and I love how you've done the pot with what looks like just a casual brush of the paintbrush. BTW, I love your intro on the wiki page!
Lin, you are getting really good with your tones and shadows! Lots of nice sketches over the past few days! I like your choice to change the color of the pot to brown, much nicer I think!
It's a beautiful painting Lin!!! Love the pot and the bricks are fabulous and the flowers are wonderful!!
Very sweet and fresh, Lin.
Lantana is one of my favorites... it attracts butterflies and I can't KILL it. LOL
Very pretty sketch!
Kathleen may not be able to kill lantana, but I can never get it to bloom! :-D This is really lovely -- your energy is impressive!
What more can be said that hasn't already been said?! We have several Lantana plants around our yard too. Such a wonderful watercolor sketch. You should be proud of what you have accomplished!
Beautiful painting Lin. Lantana has been declared a noxious weed here. Guess it just loves our growing conditions. Very pretty plant, but it chokes up our bushland if it gets out.
