I"m working on a few sketches from Savannah (photographs) ... This is This is Monterey Square and Pulaski Monument,... one of the squares noted for its huge live oaks -- all just dripping with Spanish Moss ... I loved the dappled sunshine in these squares ... and we tried to capture that in the early mornings and late evenings so I'd have some good 'sketch' material! LOL

Without reading its location, I could tell from your painting, exactly where it is since I've been there a few times myself. Great job!

Just beautiful -- so much detail and so much in the painting. The shadows and atmosphere are very apparent; felt like I could walk right into it!
Glad you are home safe and sound and have lots to paint.
Hugs,
Lorraine

Wow, Lin--you did a terrific job on this very challenging scene! That soft, moist, warm and dappled light is just beautifully rendered. Great work, cara---and welcome home! You and Sue and I are going to have to carve out some sketching time together!

Wowee! I love this one -- my favorite so far. The light shining through the the trees is really exceptional and you put in just enough information about the trees without going into too much detail, leaving the details for the focal statute which absolutely glows! Fantastic! I also really appreciated getting to see it enlarged in Flickr.

Your piece is absolutely beautiful so I hate to be a nitpicker, however (as a local of Savannah) I can see that your picture is of Monterey Square, not Pulaski Square. The monement in the middle of Monterey Square is called Pulaski Monument, which may be the source of the confusion. If you want to doublecheck me you can look at photos of the squares on the city of Savannah site, www.savannahga.gov.

Just thought I'd let you know in case it mattered! ;)
