Fall is coming

miscanthus

I can tell fall is fast approaching -- our ornamental grasses are blooming like crazy!

I love their ability to thrive with little maintenance, their delicate leaves that with each breeze sway and dance, and the fluffy blooms - a delight in variety of form and color.

This miscanthus blossom is a gold/buff/tan and will be a food source this winter for many birds.

BTW, the bluebirds fledged this morning -- and I missed it! DARN!

Oooh, just what I didn't want to hear. I'm so not ready for fall and summer has flown by, being our busiest time of year at work. But your drawing is the perfect harbinger of fall--it really says it perfectly, though I didn't know that about ornamental grasses (or that birds liked them). Now I really do have to plant some.

Well, if fall is coming, could you tell it to cool down SOME??? I'm sizzling over here. Wonderful, graceful sketch, though.

I have also noticed fall in the air--the cold air at 6am. YIKES, time to pack the car and head for AZ!

Lovely little sketch Lin.
