Landscape

I found this landscape and used the photo as a reference to continue my 'water' studies. The water got a bit too dark, so I added the same hue to the sky to balance the color somewhat.

Today, I brought a group of students and community members to two nurseries -- one featured the most unusual tree specimens (mostly grafts and weeping trees) and an ornamental grass arboretum. The arboretum also featured a pond and so I'll be continuing my 'water' practice by using some of those photos.

Lin, what a great display of watercolor skills! And beyond the skills, there's the atmosphere that you are depicting -- it's alive, and it's gorgeous. Thanks for the beauty.

Wow Lin. I love this landscape and I'm not usually attracted to them - either to sketch or to see. Your values turned out perfect!

This is lovely. You just keep getting better and better. The sky and the hills are beautiful Lin. I don't think the water looks too dark. Great idea to balance the colour of the water and the sky. You did a great job.

Wow, Lin, If you look back a couple of months ago, when you and your DH went out for the day and you were painting landscapes and barns, what an amazing difference in the quality of your work! That wasn't bad, you just have so much more tonal range and LIFE in your newer work. You are just moving right along!!!

This is amazing and masterfully done. I find landscapes to be the most challenging of all subject matter because there's just so much there. Your composition and execution are really beautiful. I'd love to see this as a large painting.

Oh Lin, this is such a well done scene -- and you know I am a connoisseur of landscapes! I just love it; one the the
best pieces you've done! I can usually get
the sky and the mountains -- and the rest is
mud and mush! Great job!
Hugs,
Lorraine
