Work continues to be busy, and when I arrived home, my computer has been infected with a troublesome worm and I've lost my satellite connection -- BIG SIGH. Can't seem to post to several of the groups I belong to and my service provider won't be able to help me for a while. When it rains ....
I've done a few noses -- with faces -- as I attempt more portraits. I redid my own and my grandson, Nick.

Every time you do your self portrait, you get better! Wonderful job on little Nick, you captured a little of the essence of his spirit here also. I have found playing with a #2 pencil and a smudge stick works out pretty well for portraits. The combination makes it easier to create the soft shadows that help define our faces. I find it very hard to get that look with a pen although I see that others can do just fine.
Lin,
You're so brave! Another self-portrait and one of your grandson as well! They're both wonderful and I think your lines on your self-portrait look so much more confident this time. I think we all are really progressing with daily practice even though it might not be as fast or as apparent as we would like.
The self-portrait is getting closer! I recognized this as you. Must be the twinkle in the eyes. ;o)
Hi Lin, oh dear sorry about the spam troubles, bravo for continuing work on portraits, an adorable portrait of the grandson!
I love the way you've just exactly caught the sense of balancing that toddlers exhibit. Well done - you'v been busy.
