I've been graciously invited to a plein air event next Saturday at a horse farm. Horses, barns, buildings of all kinds are so out of my comfort zone, so following the example of a good friend, I'm practicing a bit of the subject material before feeing more foolish than I'll probably feel with folks all around!
This horse is from a photo I shot at the Lavender Farm two weeks ago.
I leave my dd this morning to head back to a busy work week. Can't wait to catch up on all my favorite blogs!

You're off to a terrific start! It IS a horse and it IS a stall. Very nicely done - especially so since I do believe this is the first animal I've seen from you. The weathered look of the stall is fantastic!!
Goodness, you sound just like me, practicing so I can practice :) This horse is just wonderful!!
This is a great drawing, Lin and a good excercise for you and I know
you'll be just fine! Usually there are more people feeling just the same way you(and I!) do, they may not show it, but it is there. So, just have fun and paint away! And do come and show and tell.

Sounds like great fun! This hore looks quite excellent, the tone in the wood of the barn are great too!
A great painting! I like how you put the light around the head of the horse in sparing the colour here and there. Well done!
I agree, this is a great start. I love those ears, suggesting the horse looking curiously at what you are doing, which it probably was!
I love the look on the horses face--he looks skeptical like you sound about your ability to draw horses which has just been disproved! I look forward to seeing what you come up with. It sounds like a delightful outing.
