Wooden Door

Old wooden doors so remind me of Italy and I love sketching them ... especially those with aged stones, crumbling walls. They remind me of our trip to Sicily and fuel the longing to return.

Your door series is just wonderful- each one has such a great character about it, and I really like it that you've become more bold with the values in these. The cast shadows in the doorframes are very convincing, and your use of color is beautiful.

Again, you've got the depth down perfectly -- I love how the doors are often inset -- really shows off the thickness of the stone/stucco layers.
Another gorgeous one -- details are wonderful.

Lin, I'm loveing this series on old doors that you are doing! The colors are perfect! I can see that you like the stones around them, it shows in you paintings! I hope you get to go back soon!

Another unique one and you've done it perfectly -- what a gorgeous arch and the stonework is just perfect. Did the photo ref have the vegetation or were you going through withdrawals from not painting flowers and added it? LOL!
