Little Brown Jug

This little brown jug is one of those favorite collected items that somehow I overlooked UNTIL I sketched the blue jug.

When I got home from out of town, I found this jug, and TWO MORE, sitting in a corner, completely overlooked and forgotten. I remember when my husband and I found the jugs and how excited we were to bring them home. Even the twigs and small cardinal -- I added those one winter to 'brighten' up the corner in which the jug sat.

So after the blue jug, I knew I had to sketch this brown one. Reminded me of that song about the 'Little Brown Jug' (I once learned to play that on the guitar!) and that yes, winter is coming ...

My and my wife live all alone
In a little log hut we call our own;
She loves gin and I love rum,
And don't we have a lot of fun!

Ha, ha, ha, you and me,
Little brown jug, don't I love thee!

Little brown jug, don't I love thee!

I like your jugs and baskets series, Lin. Your house must be very cozy---I know it is infused with your warmth and liveliness! This brown jug is so well drawn.

Oh Lin, this is just gorgeous!! WOW oh WOW!! You did a perfect job of modeling this cute jug.

And why do we put these cute things in a corner?!

I'd love to hang out in your corners! What a great little painting and such a charming combination -- full of texture and life. I've discovered lately that my desire to keep things simple and functional in my house also means there's very little of interest to paint. I think I need to set up weekly little seasonal still lifes somewhere the cats won't bother to bring the seasons (such as they are in No. Calif.) inside and add some texture and flavor. Thanks for the inspiration!

Very very nice rendition Lin -- the lines
are so good on the jug! And I'd forgotten
the words to the first verse!

This is excellent. I love the way you've done the jug here. My mum has one just the same. :o)

I'm sure there is a LOT of fun in your house Lin! Another beautifully rendered jug and I laughed about not seeing things - yes, the longer something is there (and this applies to my dust bunnies too!)the more invisible it becomes! I wonder what other treasures are waiting to be discovered?!
