Another armchair travel to Venice through Bonny's photos (http://bonnyracca.typepad.com/bonnys_pages/). and this one meet the 'something breezy' challenge.
All the time we visited Sicily, we saw clothes hanging on lines ... and when I saw this photo of Bonny's, it brought me right back to those memories. In addition, I can remember my own mom hanging out the window of my sister's bedroom when we lived on Long Island, hanging clothes on the clothesline....
The breezes made the clothes so STIFF, but the fresh scent of them --Home!!

Oh Lin, another wonderful street scene. They remind me of the travel postcards one gets from friends who go abroad!!! I just love it; the persective, the shadows, what a great job.
Hugs,

Lovely artwork! I also really like the idea that it's Venice and there's no visible canal. We have no dryer here in Milan and clothes do come out stiff (and linty and in need of ironing). I sometimes long for the dryer but recently have read that Americans are urged to hang their clothes on the line because dryers use up a lot of energy. A consolation of sorts.
OH LIN I LOVE THIS...one of your best ever I think YAWZUR...hmmm did i spell that right...love love love it
Fine weather.
It is pleasant. And, there is humanity.
I like it.

Absolutely wonderful, Lin! You are having fun travelling to Venice through my photos, and you are doing such a great job with your paintings. I'm loving every one of them! Ancora!
This is so wonderful, Lin. I wish I could travel abroad; but I am enjoying the "breezy" life in Port Washington (Long Island!). I have similar memories of the crispy freshness of line-dried laundry...and the sound of sheets ruffling in the wind.
Your post on my blog, after a long break for me, is appreciated more than you know!
Lin,
This is positively charming. And what a great idea - drawing from Bonnie's pix. I too remember clothes hanging, but on a stand-alone clothes line in our backyard.
Well done.
I have a real fondness for paintings of clotheslines and this one is really sweet. I love the colors and your memories of your mom hanging out the clothes. I have similar memories of my little round grandmother hanging the clothes in her backyard and her special bottle for sprinkling them with water before ironing them (she ironed EVERYTHING, even underwear) when she brought them in, in her rolling canvas laundry cart.
Lovely street scene and the clothes! Great to see these.
Obviously a photo that was very evocative for you. Your washes are wonderful Lin. You really have risen to this drawing/painting challenge you set yourself when you began this journey. Your work lately is wonderful. :o)
I recognised this as Italy straight away - it's super! Lovely depth!
