Thermometer

Thermometer
Originally uploaded by linfrye.
I came home from work this week fully ready to pack our bags for our visit to South Carolina. My granddaughter is celebrating her first birthday, and my son-in-law is home just before his deployment to the war zone.

Unfortunately, this highly anticipated trip and family get together was sideswiped by illness -- both for me and for my husband. C left work on Wednesday with a fever, aches, chills -- yep, the flu. I got home Thursday with a fever, aches -- but most likely, according to my doctor, from the tick bite I received a week ago. Horrible timing!

Both of us have spent the last couple of days drinking fluids, resting, taking meds, while the family celebrations went on.

Being sick is bad enough -- being sick during a most anticipated and longed-for family event -- is heartbreaking.

Oh, Lin, you have your own troubles too. So sorry to hear about your illness and cancelled trip. I hope you both feel better very soon.

Oh Miss Lin, I am so sorry! Please do take care of yourself, tick bits are not funny. (J. developed Bells Palsy from an untreated one, so I am SO glad you've seen the doctor!)

How disappointing for you both. I do hope you are on the mend now. I love that you have managed to keep sketching through all this. Of course I'm now picturing you cosy in your 'ratty old housecoat' with the thermometer popped in the corner of your mouth. Keep well.

Poor Lin! So sorry you're not well and at such an important time. No doubt your lovely family are only concerned for your health, so look after yourself and I hope you both make very speedy recoveries.

Oh, Lin, what a shame! I'm sorry to hear that. What bad timing.

Trust you, though, to be able to produce a lovely picture of a thermometer even when you're feeling poorly. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh no -- the best laid plans -- I hope you are both better real real soon. My SIL and brother have had numerous tick bites from the deer near their former home in the woods in CT. My SIL has Lyme disease and suffers terribly from it at times. Be sure and get those antibiotics asap.

Good drawing for one feeling so bad. Good vibes to you and Charles.
Healing hugs,
Lorraine

That's terrible. Knock on wood, we have stayed well this winter/spring. Don't know if it was the flue shots or the new air cleaner. We leave on the 22nd to go to Tennessee for a couple of weeks. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Oh, how sad and miserable. I hope you get well quickly and get to see your darlings soon. I know you wish you had drawings of the grands to put here in place of the thermometer, but this drawing does document the day well. And to look at the silver lining, at least you didn't get to their house, THEN get sick, bringing the flu to the whole family.
